DAY 4:
Starting out on my Movember inspired focus and writing about men and our mental health challenges and need for adaptation as we try to evolve and encourage a new generation of sons and young men to become the best male versions of themselves….I know also that I exclude many other people who don’t identify as male and this isn’t fully reflective of my ambitions when it comes to opening up conversations about life challenges and wellness.
My introduction and early conversations about my own mental health as a man and that of other men became more consolidated when my wife and co-founder of RGA @tahiramandarino decided to collaborate on an art project last year. Our research question was; What does it mean to be in a modern partnership? Now as a married couple who live together, parent together and run our company together we had a lot of material to look at. And so, for 3 months in the studio we took a deeper look at each other and with our creative practice as a catalyst, began to explore our partnership in a different way.
This also enabled us to discover the next stage of our investigation and extend our purpose of helping individuals to connect with themselves and others through the arts. Which is why the concept of men only events and groups is just the beginning of a more mindful generation. Men supporting men will help men to support women and people of all gender identities.
So please do keep checking in even if you do see the M word appear multiple times.
This really is for all of you.
