Men Talk

Or do they? In my experience not so much, at least not about the important things - being able to open up and say; hey, I'm struggling today or my girl's mad at me (for all those Madness fans out there)...and I don't know what to do or how to help her. Having attended a meaningful event for men at the Exchange - Twickenham last weekend, I borrow todays post title; MENtalk from creator; Robbie Bird. Throughout the day of speakers and varied subject themes, it felt connective to be part of a larger group of males who were happy and comfortable to open up and share their feelings about real life experiences. Fears, concerns and life reflections were opened up to the 30 plus male audience without any visible signs of intimidation or bravado. Just plain speak from the heart, from the soul. It was a moment and one that extended for the duration of the day.

Can we pay this forward into our own daily living experiences? Can men begin to open up trust spaces and finally talk openly with other men. If we can then perhaps we can also begin to talk openly and empathetically with the women in our lives.
